My Fav South African Products
So, full disclosure, there are ZERO paid-for promotions or punts here… These are just amazing local products that I think you’ll really love. I hope they make your life a bit easier, like they have mine.
Smell Mai Pits
If you haven’t heard of this incredible natural anti-perspirant product yet, I’m so happy I am the first to tell you!
I have tried a zillion deodorants, natural and mainstream, and there is seriously nothing as effective, and yummy-smelling, as Smell Mai Pits.
I gave a few away to a few of my friends (it is what good friends do!) and my athletic friend said emphatically, “It has changed my life!”
Why I love it.
- Really works – I sweat (which is good) but I don’t smell (thanks to bacteria-killing ingredients!). Like, at all! Even after a long day’s work.
- It is safe for my kids – My daughters are both hormonal teenagers. Whoooo boy, they needed this!
- It is good value for money – It is more expensive than the stuff you buy at your local supermarket, buuuuuut… you only need like three swipes in the morning and you’re sorted all day. So a stick lasts about three months. And… it works.
- So much more confidence – I don’t know if there’s a price tag on this, but man alive, knowing you are not walking around with stress-pits is priceless.
Niki Professional Makeup
So, I first met Niki when I went for a much-needed style consultation with Tania (she’s amazing). Niki has years of professional makeup experience behind her, and has made her own line of pure, amazing make-up products.
Her Niki Professional Makeup line is a bit more expensive than mass-produced products, but it lasts ages because you need so little. SERIOUSLY. Like, I’ve been using her brow powder for about two years now, and there’s hardly a dent in it. No lies.
Why I like it.
- They don’t irritate the skin.
- Her concealers, tinted powder, and CC creams work like a BOMB (the under-eye concealer actually stays on all day and makes me look less-tired!)
- The colours for lips and eyes are amazing.
- I cannot find anything like it at other stores.
- Her products are specifically made for South African women’s skin.
Increda-Peg
So, this has nothing to do with beauty or anti-ageing, but it is 100% South African! I thought I’d share it with you!
It took some getting used to. It is not at all like your normal washing line pegs. But, after about 2 weeks of soldiering through (apparently I’m not a fast learner!) it finally became less mechanical and more automatic for me when I hung up my washing.
If you haven’t seen ads on Facebook already for this little wonder-peg, then let me introduce you to Increda-Peg, the little peg that could.
Why I use it.
- I like that you can hang up pants by their belt loops to dry.
- It is a bold design – I like that.
- I like that you can leave them on the washing line and they won’t rust (we live at the coast – this is a biggie).
- I can use them to hang up clothes, as well as close up open cereal bags, etc, in the kitchen.
There you have it!
My little list of favourite South African products that I gain nothing from sharing with you, but hopefully you walk away with a few new ideas!
Love, Cands
